Any Soldier: How to Make Yourself Useful

Any Soldier is a means of getting G.I.'s names so you can send them a little care package. The APO (Army Post Office) & FPO (Fleet Post Office) systems won't deliver packages addressed to "Any Soldier" for security reasons. This is a really good way around that. I know I've occasionally considered that sitting by the pool drinking beers was probably not contributing an awful lot to our effort on the war on terrorism. Enlisting was just a bit out of the question for me, so I was hoping I could come up with some way to offer some kind of help. And then along came AnySoldier.com. This was a program I could get into. I went out to Publix that day and got some stuff that Marine LCpl Raymond W. Stone had indicated he could use and shipped it out the next day. This guy was "near Fallujah" on 7-November. Today is the 13th and we've taken 80% of Fallujah by now with some 25 U.S. casualties. I heard today that the bad guys have had to deal with about 1000 dead and 400 captured. (I love it when they stand up to us and try to go toe to toe. Yet another lesson in stupidity. And by the way, how many virgins can there be for all these "martyrs"?) This is, by no means, any indication that this fighting is easy. It's got to be sleepless nights, and constant adrenaline. LCpl Stone indicated that snacks would be good. Snacks. Holy crap! I'm a snack expert! I'm going to try to send a box a week. I enclosed this letter in the first box. I'm sure he'll share with his buds. I know it's not all that much, but I think I'll feel just a little bit better about myself as I go for that next beer.
