Truely Great Apple Pie
A truely great Apple Pie is really a fantastic way to finish off just about any dinner. We have here a recipe for a truely great Apple Pie. Pay attention...
Use Granny Smith Apples. End of discussion.
INGREDIENTS:
5 or 6 Granny Smith Apples
¼ cup sugar
2 Tbsp cinnamon
5 Tbsp Butter
1 Tbsp Milk
9" Pie Crust (2) (Publix would be just fine)
Put a pie crust into a pie pan. Peel the apples. It would be nice if you could peel the apples in a single contiguous peel, but that's optional. Cut peeled apples into pieces and put into crust (as demonstrated by my lovely assistant). When about half the apples are in the crust, sprinkle most of the butter, sugar and cinnamon on the apples. Continue to add the remaining apples. Add the rest of the butter. Apply top crust and dampen with milk. Sprinkle the remaining sugar and cinnamon on the top crust. Ensure that the top crust has a slit or two to allow steam to escape. Now its ready to bake. Put into oven pre-heated to 350° for 50 - 60 minutes. Looks like this inside. It won't last long.
